The Journey of the Circulation System

Throughout this circulation, blood in sent to the heart via the viens and sent away from the heart via the arteries.

Step 1: Returning blood from the vena cava, a vein, is sent into the right auricle and the right auricle dialates. Blood from the pulmonary veins is sent into the left auricle and it too dialates.

Step 1

Step 2: The right and left auricles contract and blood is expelled. This is evident in the fact that the color of the auricles become whiter.

Step 2

Step 3: Upon contraction of the auricles, the ventricles recieve blood and dialate. The fibers surrounding the heart become tense with this action.

Step 3

Step 4: The right and left ventricles then contract and expell blood.

Step 4

Step 5: Blood from the right ventricle is sent through the vena arteriosa, an artery, on its passage to the lungs. Blood from the left ventricle is sent through the aorta which is the main artery that further distributes the blood.

Step 5

Step 6: The blood, after being sent through the arteries to the rest of the body, voyages back toward the heart via the viens and the process is repeated. See step 1.
